UK Organic Research 2002 aims to find ways of linking research and commercial reality and brings together researchers and professionals working in the field.

Speakers include the minister for rural affairs at the Welsh national assembly Carwyn Jones, Helen Browning of the Policy Commission for the future of farming and food, Nic Lampkin of the Organic Centre Wales, Willie Lockeretz of Tufts University, US and Waitrose head of food technology Mary Vizoso.

'By sponsoring the UK's first research and development conference for organics, Waitrose aims to forge closer ties between researchers and retailers,' said Waitrose agronomist Alan Wilson.

Waitrose has an estimated leading 10 per cent share of the organic retail market.
