The Organic Growers’ Alliance (OGA) has a busy summer programme of events lined up, including visits to small and large box schemes and a seminar on machinery for intensive organic producers.

On August 2, the OGA will host a farm walk in Aberdeenshire, its first time in Scotland. The venue is Vital Veg, a 53-hectare farm. And the visit will include a tour of the vegetable crops in the field and tunnel, leys and the transplant raising area.

There will be a farm walk and tour of Riverford Organic Vegetables on August 5, in Devon. The day will include a tour of the farm, including field-scale vegetable production, tunnels, the packhouse and a visit to a South Devon Organic Producers co-op farm nearby. Riverford is one of the UK’s largest and best-known vegetable box schemes.

On August 11, a seminar entitled Machinery for the Intensive Organic Producer will take place at Tolhurst Organic Produce in Reading. A statement from the OGA says: “If you are thinking about what basic machinery you need to grow multiple crops, or what specialist equipment you might need, this event is for you.”
