MDS graduate Oliver Watts has joined crop protection and seed giant Syngenta as crop specialist on seeds for cauliflowers, borecole and Brussels sprouts.
Prior to MDS, Watts gained a BA in Food and Fresh Produce Management at Harper Adams, as well as a practical course in crop and soil management.
While on the MDS course, he worked on Syngenta’s business development and marketing team, as well as working as a vegetable seeds specialist with several growers where developed new varieties and products and helped market them to retailers.
He has also worked on production and supply at some of the UK’s leading fresh produce growers and suppliers.
Syngenta said Watts’ experience, relationships and contacts throughout the food industry will prove a valuable resource for its brassica and cauliflower customers.
Watts said: “I look forward to working with the company’s seed breeders, R&D scientists, technical specialists and agronomic support teams across the UK and Europe to bring effective total crop solutions to growers.”
