Natures Way Foods has issued a statement in the wake of the decision to withdraw bags of imported mixed leaf from Morrisons.
As reported on freshinfo last Saturday, Morrisons pulled 280g bags of own-brand mixed leafy salad with red chard, supplied by Natures Way Foods (NWF), and asked customers to return them to stores.
The NWF statement said the withdrawal related to “a small potential risk of contamination within one isolated batch of our washed salad leaves”. Director Julie Leivers said: “Although the potential risk is very low, Morrisons and NWF acted immediately to trigger a withdrawal of the entire batch from stores, depots and the distribution chain.
“Ensuring the highest quality standards is the absolute priority of both businesses at all times, which is why we have taken this precautionary measure.”
All bags with an April 29 use-by date were subject to the recall.
