Natures Way Foods (NWF) is supporting Skills for Work Week this week and opening its doors to offer local youngsters an insight into working in the fresh produce sector.
NWF is offering free training to help tackle youth unemployment, as part of the nationwide Feeding Britain’s Future: Skills to Work Week backed by think-tank IGD.
Sarah Baldock, sales and marketing director at NWF, said: “The food and grocery industry is the UK’s largest employer, providing one in seven jobs, and there is a huge range of careers on offer. As a large employer in the West Sussex area we are delighted to be supporting this excellent initiative”.
Over the course of the week, 20 young local unemployed people will be given an overview of the NWF salad and fresh fruit business and a factory tour. They will also attend a CV and interview workshop at the company and shadow staff in the engineering department in order to gain a range of skills to help them back into work.
Joanne Denney-Finch, IGD chief executive, said: “NWF is an innovative, progressive, people-focused business and is a perfect match for what we are trying to do through Feeding Britain's Future. We are delighted to have NWF on board.”
