Seed breeder Nunhems has further strengthened its position on the European lettuce market with investment in modernisation of its glasshouse facilities at ‘s-Gravenzande in The Netherlands. The new greenhouses host the company’s breeding and development programme for Europe, and are equipped with the latest technology available to facilitate the speedier development of new varieties. An improved lighting system allows Nunhems to breed more generations in a single year and help meet market needs for year-round production.

“The modernization of our greenhouses is further proof of our specialisation and strong customer-orientation,” said Rafa Mora, crop sales manager for lettuce. “Nunhems has a very specific structure, based on international teams, linked to particular crops or markets. The combined know-how of our people, together with modern breeding technology and practices, help us to provide our customers and partners with high-quality seeds, excellent contacts and services - wherever they are, or wish to be.”
