NSF International has reached an agreement on the terms of a recommended cash offer to acquire CMi plc.

The combination of CMi, a leading European food safety and assurance company operating throughout the food supply chain, and NSF, a global testing and certification company committed to public health protection, will address growing global food-safety concerns.

The combined service offer would help the food industry reduce risk and demonstrate compliance with international standards and regulations.

CMi chief executive Mike Thomas said: “The completion of this deal would bring together two highly respected organisations, which, with our combined resources and capabilities, will be able to establish a leading position in the global food safety market. By working together, we will provide unmatched consulting, audit and certification services in our respective markets and to international clients.”

The comprehensive farm-to-fork food-safety solutions will be delivered on a global scale.

“The acquisition will help meet worldwide demand for quality and safety at every step of the food supply chain,” Tom Chestnut, vice president of NSF’s supply chain food safety and quality programmes, pictured, told freshinfo. “With our combined technical expertise in food safety, we will provide extensive farm-to-fork food safety solutions, while continuing NSF’s ongoing commitment to protecting public health.”

The acquisition should be completed by August 20.
