Western International Market Tenants’ Association has confirmed the first business closure since relocation last month.
C&B Salads ceased trading and is understood to have gone into voluntary liquidation at the weekend. The firm was unable to reassign its lease at the brand-new market site, as it cannot be passed on during the first year.
The London Borough of Hounslow, which is landlord of the site, confirmed that the company’s lease has been sent to the council’s lawyers for advice on how to terminate the agreement, as C&B Salads is a limited company.
Difficulties were apparent before the move, as the trader initially put the fitting out of its new unit on hold, before later going ahead with the relocation.
London Borough of Hounslow confirmed to FPJ that the contractor has still not been paid for this work.
Once the borough regains possession of the units occupied by C&B, not likely until next month, then it will be able to put a new tender out for them.
