Nominations have opened for the annual Brammy Awards, recognising and rewarding excellence in using and promoting Bramley apples. this week.

The judges will be looking for a number of qualities from the winning businesses, giving special consideration to those that have shown outstanding commitment and support to the Bramley apple this year.

The full list of categories for the 2011 Brammy Awards is: Best Bramley Retailer; Best Best Bramley Apple Savoury Product; Best Bramley Catering Foodservice Company; Best Bramley Foodservice Product; Bramley Apple Sauce; Best Bramley Apple Sweet Product; Best Bramley Media Chef (Judges’ choice); Best Bramley Food Writer (Judges’ choice) and the Chairman’s Award. The entry deadline is 3 June 2011

The Bramley Campaign’s Adrian Barlow said: “The commitment and continued support of retailers, manufacturers and foodservice companies is essential to the success of the Bramley campaign and the Brammy Awards are intended to recognise and celebrate all of their efforts.”

The Brammy Awards are now in their 18th year and in 2010 Waitrose scooped the Best Bramley Retailer. Companies may nominate themselves via the website, www.bramleyapples.co.uk/trade.
