No Tesco change of heart

Tesco subsidiary T&S has signed up to use the government’s 5 A DAY logo, but the retailer insists this does not signify a corporate change of heart.

At the moment, Tesco does not use the government logo in its supermarkets, having created its own logo.

A spokesman said: “We brought out our own [logo] first. T&S is run as a separate company, and doesn’t sell any Tesco branded products. It has decided to go with the government logo.”

Tesco said as it converts T&S stores to the Tesco Express format, the logo will revert to its own. However, it plans to keep around 500 T&S stores under the One Stop brand, and the government logo will be retained.
