No sprouts please, we're Scottish

Sprouts might be traditional festive fare for most of the UK, but according to Asda, the Scots are less than enamoured.

A spokesman for the retailer said when it comes to sales of the vegetable the worst performing stores are in Scotland.

He said: “Four out of the bottom ten stores for sprouts sales are Scottish, while all 34 of our stores in Scotland are in the bottom quarter for sprouts.”

On the other hand, the shoppers at Longwell Green, Bristol are proving to be the exact opposite, consuming a whopping 600,000 sprouts every week.

The spokesman said: “The area has a population of around 7,250, which works out at around 85 sprouts per person, per week.”

The retailer has now proclaimed the area as the UK’s sprout capital.
