No job too far for PA

Blue Skies Products has decided to continue its affiliation with Packaging Automation Ltd (PA), and has called the leading tray sealer manufacturer in to service its machines.

The company has two PA tray sealing machines on site at its fresh-cut fruit processing facility, near Johannesberg in South Africa.

Andre Veldsman, general manager of the Blue Skies’ South African plant, said: “PA equipment has been in use at our site in Ghana for more than 10 years - so when we opened this site four years ago it made sense to standardise the equipment throughout the company. We have been very happy with the PA machines - they do exactly what we need them to do.

“On occasions like this when the machine needs servicing, they are able to respond very quickly despite being thousands of miles away. The PA technician was very good - both in terms of the level of service he gave and as a representative of his company.”

The popular PA182 tray sealer is in use worldwide to seal a wide range of food and non-food products. At Blue Skies, the sealer is being used to pack the tropical fruits, which are processed at source and sealed. The product is then flown into the UK to the shelves of all the major supermarkets within days.

The machine’s versatility means it can be used for a huge range of products - from ready meals, confectionery, snacks, meat and poultry, as well as prepared fruit and vegetables.

This robust, easy-to-use tray sealer accommodates trays up to 100mm in depth as standard, and one of its key strengths is reliability, which is particularly important when it is being used in overseas locations. It is easy to clean, and can seal and trim film from a reel onto CPET, polypropylene, PVC, board and foil as required.

PA’s sales manager Neil Ashton said: “We want customers to know that wherever they are based they can still rely on the same high standard of service from PA as those based nearer to home. We can get engineers on site quickly - whether you are in the UK or overseas - to ensure production is not affected.”
