Fazor can still be used by root growers under a SOLA in carrots and parsnips to suppress re-growth and help maintain quality, according to Dow AgroSciences.

There has been some uncertainty among growers with regard to this SOLA.

But Dow insists that the temporary MRL of 30mg/kg will come into force on December 4. This will enable growers to keep using Fazor until 2007.

John Sellars at Dow AgroSciences said: “The practicality is that UK carrot and parsnip growers can continue to use Fazor according to the SOLA in the 2006 and 2007 planted crop.”

Producers must obtain a copy of the notice of approval to use Fazor in carrots and parsnips via the PSD website, ADAS office, the HDC or NFU. The SOLA reference number for Fazor on outdoor carrots and parsnips is 2159/2001.
