Air dried fruit and veg crisp manufacturer Nim’s has signed a new deal to distribute its products to schools, colleges, universities and the healthcare sector.
Nim’s Fruit Crisps will now supply its apple, pear, pineapple and beetroot and parsnip crisps to Coventry-based manufacturing bakery Handmade Speciality Products, which is one of the largest suppliers of individually wrapped baked goods to the UK education sector.
Around 100 cases have already been sold in the first four weeks of the agreement and this figure is set to grow as more and more organisations are made aware of the products’ health benefits.
“This is a major breakthrough deal for our business and illustrates the growing demand for our air dried fruit and vegetable crisps,” said founder Nimisha Raja.
“Handmade Speciality Products, with the additional backing of its parent company May & Raeburn, is now one of the largest suppliers of individually wrapped baked goods to the UK education market and has also been a listed supplier on the NHS supply chain for the past 18 months”.
Raja added: “We now have the opportunity to push our products across both of these networks and will be working with them on marketing activities and attending events, such as LACA (the Lead Association for Catering in Education).”
Handmade Specialty Products will start out by purchasing four Nim’s varieties, but the firm's national account manager James Raeburn said this could quickly grow ahead of an official launch in September when much of the education sector will start to make their purchasing decisions.
“The Nim’s range offers a healthy alternative to snacking without any artificial additives, whilst still remaining a value for money offering,” he said. “Within the education sector especially, caterers are constantly under pressure as to what they are allowed to offer children. Nim’s is the perfect fit as a snacking solution.”
