Re:fresh 2013 is gathering momentum. Organisation is well underway to deliver another cracking event and you will by now be aware of the new awards up for grabs. We’ve kept the most popular from previous years and following your suggestions, we’ve added a number of different, relevant categories this year.

We’ve streamlined the entry questions and entries will be online as we move forward in these ever-changing times. Keep an eye on the website www.refresh.uk.com for regular updates on how to enter. The conference preceding the awards will take the same form as last year with some of the industry’s biggest characters presenting on what matters to you including topics such as social media in business. Like it or not, social media in its many forms is here to stay and is vital for progressive businesses so come and find out more about the challenges and opportunities from our expert. Thanks for your sponsorship enquiries, we value your support and don’t forget James Martin is our compere, back by popular request.

Out and about in 2013, we were delighted to meet a number of FPC members at Multimodal at the NEC last week. We are organising three major port visits for members this summer kicking off with Tilbury, London Container Terminal in June followed by a visit to the new DP World development and latterly back to Felixstowe to view the new deep sea terminal. These visits are really popular and offer a great networking opportunity and a chance to discuss issues surrounding inspections and other topics that are crucial to your business, so don’t miss out, we’ll be circulating details very soon.

Another date for your diary if you have anything to do with HR is our Spring HR Forum at the Marriott Hotel in Peterborough on 15 May. We have a great schedule for you and this growing, friendly group offers a warm welcome to newcomers.

Work continues on the development of our new website. We will be working throughout the summer months on this exciting project with a ‘go live’ date of 1 September with a radically updated, interactive site offering a range of new services fully operational for the autumn.

Training is crucial in business and often overlooked when reining in budget spends. We are delighted to be working in partnership with MorePeople to develop relevant training courses at affordable prices on a range of subjects that are important to you. Details will be announced in the coming months and we look forward to your feedback.

Former FPC president and chairman of Rodanto, Michael Velasco, leaves for China this month to take part in the iconic Peking to Paris car rally with Team Madre. Michael belongs to the Mercedes-Benz Club and will be driving a classic merc, car No 58 complete with FPC banners. We wish him the very best of luck, we’ll follow on Facebook and can’t wait to see the pictures. —
