The NHS procurement team, DHL, is to tender an application to become a listed supplier on its national framework agreement for prepared potatoes.
Volumes from the incumbent supplier are around £3 million a year nationally.
However, the NHS said it wants to hear from all sizes of business, as the contract can be split geographically, to make it easier for smaller businesses to get involved.
The contract is for a year, but with the option to extend for a further two years, and will commence next spring.
