Flower and plant growers from around the world will converge on Brighton as the NFU gets set to host the annual International Association of Horticulture Producers (AIHP) conference.

Due to be opened by Deputy President Meurig Raymond on September 3, the 59th AIPH Congress will see a range of speakers tackle subjects including current trends in the use of flowers and plants and the carbon footprint in the ornamentals sector.

The Horticulture Trades Association will jointly host the conference, which will include a two-day conference followed by a two-day programme of tours for delegates.

NFU Horticulture board chairman Richard Hirst said: “As well as the formal sessions, delegates at the conference will have the opportunity to visit a number of nurseries on the south coast, providing a real insight into the world class industry that is the British ornamental industry.”
