The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) has launched a new category offering free membership to the Young Farmers’ Club (YFC) movement, for members aged between 16 and 21.

NFU YFC membership supports young farmers through their studies, keeping them updated about what is happening in the industry and providing money-saving discounts. It also offers member the chance to influence the future of agricultural policy while providing them with a direct link to the largest agricultural organisation in the UK and its wide range of resources.

Malcolm Thomas, NFU director of membership and the regions, said: “We are kick-starting our next 100 years with the launch of the new NFU YFC membership category and we need you, the future of generation of farming. If you are a YFC member then this is your opportunity to influence the future of agricultural policy.”

NFU president Peter Kendall said: “In addition to the many challenges facing the modern farming industry, there are lots of exciting opportunities for the next generation of farmers. Joining the NFU gives them the opportunity to help influence and shape agricultural policy and ensure their voice is heard. These young farmers are an essential ingredient in achieving success for the industry in the future.”

On reaching age 21, YFC members can continue their membership of the NFU for two years at the special price of just £10 per annum.

The benefits of NFU YFC membership include access to free online NFU resources including its business guide, newsletters and weekly bulletin.
