New course aims to arm NFU members with contract negotiation skills
A new workshop focused on helping suppliers negotiate contracts is being launched by the NFU.
The one-day negotiation training workshop, open to NFU members, is run by former supermarket senior buyers turned management consultants Ged Futter and David Miles of The Retail Mind. The pair have managed several multi-million pound grocery categories and between them have nearly 60 years’ experience working at a senior level within Asda.
The workshop aims to arm sales teams with the skills to gain control, creating the best chance to agree the price they need from their buyer, in a constructive and robust way.
The course takes place on 22 March at NFU headquarters in Stoneleigh, and is applicable to anyone within the business who is involved in negotiating contracts, annual pricing or volumes.
NFU members are being offered a 40 per cent saving on the price of the workshop, which will cost £300 + VAT. The event features lunch and drinks, and can be booked by contacting NFU CallFirst on 0370 845 8458.
Gaining a CPI
Separately, the NFU is continuing to offer its ongoing cost price increase workshop series, which is also run by Futter and Miles. The highly interactive events train suppliers in how to constructively engage with supermarket buyers, understanding the way they think in order to negotiate a price increase at a time of soaring input costs.
The next workshop takes place on 19 April at NFU HQ.
An interview with David Miles will feature in FPJ, March 2023.
