The NFU also warned that government proposals for spending and the way this might affect agriculture over the next three years could be overtaken by the mid-term review of the EU's common agricultural policy which is under deliberation this year.
'Like all the other elements of this announcement,' said NFU president Ben Gill, 'this proposal will need close examination. As always, the devil is in the detail.'
