NFU announces Farming Excellence Awards finalists

The NFU has announced the finalists in the Farming Excellence Awards.

The awards reward farmers and growers who have made an outstanding and innovative contribution to agriculture and horticulture. The winners of the national contest will be announced at the NFU Annual lunch in London on March 11.

NFU president Tim Bennett said: “The judges had a very tough job in choosing this year’s finalists from a diverse selection of high calibre regional winners.”

The categories are Farming Ambassador of the Year, Farm Retailer of the Year, Great British Food Award, Young Farmer of the Year, The English Nature Farming for Wildlife Award, Daily Telegraph David Brown Award and Best Innovations in the Food Chain Award, which sees Clem Tompsett of Tompsett Burgers Growers trying to take the crown for his efforts with purple carrots.
