Despite concerns over a storm early in November, the New York apple harvest concluded late last month with quantities comparable to last year’s crop and good fruit quality.

Peter Gregg, communications and marketing spokesman for the New York Apple Association said: “The quality this year was outstanding.”

He also noted that, rather than hinder the crop this year, the weather helped develop quality fruit.

“We had abundant sunshine this summer which generated a high sugar content in the fruit,” he added.

Volume is estimated to be approximately 30 million bushels.
