The competition has been designed to encourage uptake of Bramley by the catering sector and to introduce student chefs to its potential.

Daniel Hills from Glenrothes College in Fife has created the Bramley's Brighter Breakfast featuring the UK's favourite cooking apple alongside bacon and black pudding.

Also preparing his dish for judges at Westminster Kingsway College on July 9 will be Stuart Rendall from Brooklands College, Surrey with his Sweet Polenta and Apple Pudding with Apple Ice Cream and Lemon Sauce. And the third finalist is Jermaine Weekes of Westminster College, London who will be dishing up Chocolate, Bramley and Blueberry Lasagne.

Judges include Willie Pike of Sodexho, Dan Bignold of Caterer & Hotelkeeper magazine and BCG chairman Ian Mitchell.
