A large distribution deal has been signed allowing the use of new rapid pathogen detection kits in more than 50 countries.

Belgian company Biobest N.V. has agreed the deal with Evry (France)-based agricultural and horticultural diagnostic specialists Agdia-Biofords.

Agdia develops and provides products and services for the detection of more than 200 plant pathogens and is also active in the detection of plant growth hormones and water toxins.

Biobest N.V. specialises in the production of beneficial insects and mites for biological crop protection and bumblebees for biological pollination. The company is active in more than 50 countries by means of its five subsidiaries and an extensive distribution network.

Thanks to the recently signed agreement, Biobest will initially introduce the detection kits (‘Flashkits’) in several countries via its distribution network.

Flashkits allow the detection of viral and bacterial plant infections. They are pathogen-specific and based on the immuno-chromotography principle. They are very sensitive and reliable and can be compared to the ELISA-test performed in the laboratory.

Biobest will distribute them for us one both vegetables and ornamentals.
