A high-yielding, mid-season Brussels sprout variety, Brigitte, has recently been introduced into the UK market, after performing well in grower trials over the last two years. The variety, introduced by Nickerson Zwaan Ltd, has good button quality, height, disease tolerance and field standing ability. It is aimed at the mid-season harvest window ö cropping extends from mid-October to December ö when it gives high yields of medium-sized buttons with a low percentage of waste. Nickerson Zwaan Ltd states that Brigitte has both fresh and freezing market potential.
