New salad mix from Brakes

With the foodservice industry in mind, Brakes has launched its new British-grown winter salad mix.

Comprising a combination of red Salanova, crispy green lettuce, red chard, rocket, mizuna and pak choi, the UK salad leaves are grown in Lancashire glasshouses and thrive undercover during the limited daylight hours of the British winter. Available in 100g packs, Brakes’ new salad pack is prepped, washed and ready to serve.

Sally Sturley, marketing manager at Pauleys, part of the Brakes group, said: “Most salads sold in the UK during the winter months make the long trip from central and southern Europe. However, these leaves have been nurtured and carefully selected by UK farmers, proud to be supporting great-quality products. Purchasing Brakes’ British-grown winter salad helps support progressive UK growers keen to have a positive effect on the environment by reducing food miles.”
