A new “Ever-Green” pepper exported in its latter stages is to make its debut at the international agricultural exhibition, Agro Mashov, 2009 in Israel.

The green pepper is a development by the Gedera Seeds company and is marketed by Agrexco, under the Carmel brand in Israel and abroad.

The original green pepper is usually exported before it has gone through the full maturation process giving it a dark green color and a supposedly more bitter taste than other coloured peppers.

The Ever-Green pepper keeps its full green color throughout the maturation process but also retains it to the latter stages and acquires the sweetish taste similar to that of red, orange and yellow peppers.

In the coming year the company is expected to export 300 tonnes of the Ever-Green pepper to markets around Europe using the eco-protective ships Carmel Ecofresh and Carmel Biotope.

The project reduces the uploading and unloading time to minimum and maintains the specific transport conditions needed for ensuring maximum life expectancy.

The "Ever Green" pepper will be presented at the Innovation Booth at the Agro Mashov exhibition, taking place January 14-15.

Also in the event the VFF (Vegetable, Fruit & Flower) exhibition will display a variety of fresh produce, organic output, shipping and packing solutions.
