Stalwart is the new name for Nico Soap, the nicotine-based product used for controlling aphids in vegetables, brassicas, fruit and salads.

“The current issues regarding aphid control with pyrethroids, OPs and carbamates has led United Phosphorous to carry out an intensive development programme with the product, which has no known aphid resistance,” said Chris Hepworth, marketing manager of the registration holders United Phosphorus.

“By re-launching Nico Soap as Stalwart, it updates the product’s image and emphasises the unique strengths of the treatment that is recommended as an integral part of an anti-resistance strategy in any aphicide programme,” he added.

“There are no restrictions to the number of applications and activity is not dependent on temperature as is often mistakenly believed. The short harvest interval of just two days is also a key benefit.”

Delivering control through a combination of contact and fumigant action, applications will give additional activity against caterpillars and leaf-mining maggots.
