A new range of gastronomic type mushrooms is set to be available at Belgian auctions this autumn.

While pied bleu or wood blewitt mushrooms may have been available for the past couple of years but this year production is expected to be much higher, with weekly supplies of around 300 and 400kgs expected.

On the newer front, cinnamon cap mushrooms, or nameko, will be putting in a first appearance on the Belgian auctions, along with the king oyster, similar to the traditional oyster mushroom, but with a thicker, edible stalk.

The new additions add to the range of mushrooms on offer at the auctions, which also include chestnut mushrooms, shiitake and buna-shimeji.
