The launch is a collaboration between Adrian Scripps, Ravenwood Packaging, ProPrint and Smurfit Westrock
A new linerless pack has been launched for Adrian Scripps’ Kanzi apples.
The kerbside recyclable pack was developed in collaboration with Ravenwood Packaging, ProPrint Group and Smurfit Westrock, and provides a plastic-free solution that delivers the premium appearance and high-speed efficiency required for retail.
The pack was created in response to Adrian Scripps seeking an easily recognised recyclable, plastic-free pack displaying as much of the fruit as possible.
The pack also needed to maintain the product protection, speed and efficiency needed for commercial production, according to the company.
The bespoke linerless lids are applied using Ravenwood Packaging’s Nobac 5000L applicator, a machine that enables fast, automated linerless labelling. Smurfit Westrock supplied robust printed corrugated trays for the premium strength and appearance that was required.
The Kanzi pack will initially launch across 500 stores as well as online, and complements similar initiatives such as Zespri’s Gold Kiwi packs.
The latest Kanzi offering will be the first of several product launches for the category as additional varieties are added.
