Dr Stephen Walker has formally accepted the role of director-general of Campden BRI, succeeding Professor Colin Dennis, who retired in June.

Walker has been director of the Division of Cereals and Cereal Processing for the previous four years, but has been with the business since 1986.

During his 22 years at Campden BRI, Walker has been instrumental in co-ordinating the scientific and commercial aspects of the business, as well as the evaluation of other research organisations internationally.

Walker is well aware of the demands of the business. He said: “Industry faces major challenges, both commercial and in terms of broader concerns such as sustainable production. We are ideally placed to partner our members and other clients in meeting these challenges.”
