Redbridge Produce and Flowers has won the contract to supply fruit and vegetables to the whole of South Tyneside Education and Social Service Departments.

The contract will see the Gateshead branch of Redbridge Produce and Flowers deliver fresh fruit and vegetables daily to 68 schools and 19 social service departments throughout Tyneside, including day and leisure centres, the town hall and other public works.

Alan Shield, managing director at the Gateshead branch, said: "We are delighted to have won this contract to supply the South Tyneside Education and Social Service Departments.

"It builds on our work with the School Fruit & Vegetable Scheme and other councils across the country, where we supply over 4,500 schools with their daily fruit and vegetables."

A spokesman from South Tyneside Council said: "We were impressed with Redbridge's capability to supply both fresh and prepared fruit and vegetables to all of our departments. Their proven work with other councils shows how committed they are to delivering the best fresh produce on time and we are looking forward to working with them."
