The directors of Worldwide Fruit have announced the appointment of Robert Mears as the company’s new chief executive officer.
Mears joins Worldwide Fruit from Midland Meat Packers, where he was chief executive, and brings with him a wealth of experience supplying the major UK High Street multiples.
Robert Balicki, WWF chairman, commented: "Worldwide Fruit has established itself as a force in the market place and Robert will have the key role to ensure that this position is not only maintained but developed, as we respond to the ongoing changes on the High Street."
Michael Dossor, a director of Worldwide Fruit and managing director of Turners & Growers, welcomed Mears into the fold: "Robert has the experience of dealing with our customers that Worldwide Fruit needs to further develop the strong business partnerships that today's business requires."
Mears will be joining the company this week, and will be based at the WWF head office in the UK, in Spalding.
