Environmental and land-based businesses in the South West will be able to get free advice and information to help them at a new open day, called the Business Improvement Day, in Ilminster, Somerset.

To be held on February 15, the event has been organised by Train to Gain in partnership with Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for the environmental and land-based industries. The open day will provide floristry businesses with an update on key issues in their sector, as well as advice about new ways of increasing business and attracting new customers.

Funding opportunities and other new initiatives will be explored, while participants can also learn more about ways of planning their business. There will also be an emphasis on managing, developing and motivating staff.

“At events such as these we focus on providing information, support and advice that is specific to a sector and we discuss the issues people are facing,” said Alison Cox of Train to Gain. “Somerset and the surrounding areas have a number of businesses in these industries and we know the day will be really beneficial, not only for providing advice and information but also the opportunity to network with others working in similar organisations.”

Held between 9.30am and 2.30pm at Dillington House, the event is free of charge but places are limited to one per company, in order to allow the maximum number of businesses to take part.
