A new premium range of blackcurrant-based cordials has been snapped up by Waitrose.

The cordials, which include blackcurrant, blackcurrant and elderflower and blackcurrant and Scottish raspberry flavours, were developed by Edward Thompson at Pixley Court Farms, with grants from the New Product Development Matched Funded Award Scheme and the Midlands Food Partnerships, worth £10,000.

No less than 60 per cent of the product will be Pixley blackcurrant juice.

The cordials are free from preservatives, additives and artificial flavours, and are a source of health-boosting anthocyanins and antioxidants.

James Allen, of the partnership, said: "I am delighted we have been able to assist Pixley Berries in developing what promises to be a highly successful new product."
