Fresh produce storage technologist biofresh has appointed Richard Miles as sales and marketing director, a new role designed to fulfil the growing UK and international markets for its crop storage management systems.

Bringing with him a wealth of sales and marketing experience from the business to business arena, Miles’s most recent role saw him achieve significant growth for the US-owned Simpson Strong-Tie UK subsidiary.

biofresh executive chairman Harry Smart said: “Richard’s appointment reflects the potential demand both nationally and internationally for our fresh produce technologies. As a relatively new company, we were looking for an experienced sales and marketing director with strategic planning and hands-on sales and customer service know-how. Richard fitted the bill perfectly, having overseen major growth at his previous companies.”

Miles said: “It’s an exciting time to join the biofresh team. The desire by many retailers, growers and packers to move away from chemical-based storage treatments for potatoes and fresh produce is gaining momentum. Upcoming changes in European pesticide legislation will offer more opportunities for us. Our unique products offer a highly effective alternative and many companies are enjoying the benefits of our technology.

“I aim to build on our success in the UK and help grow our export markets including Japan, North America, the southern hemisphere and Europe, where we already have systems in place. This new role presents an exciting challenge for me and I’m delighted to be a part of the biofresh revolution.”
