Former Tesco director Baroness Lucy Neville-Rolfe has accepted a role as a business minister.

Neville-Rolfe has been appointed parliamentary under-secretary of state at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, where she will be responsible for the department's affairs in the House of Lords.

She is well known in the fresh food industry, having worked in theMinistry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from 1973-1992, and then at Tesco as group director of corporate affairs and executive director for corporate and legal affairs from 1997-2013.

Following her appointment Neville-Rolfe stepped down from a number of non-executive director positions, including at ITV and chicken giant 2 Sisters Food Group.
