Rushton's is committed to reducing its ecological footprint

Rushton’s said it is committed to reducing its environmental footprint and enhancing resource efficiency

New Covent Garden Market trader Rushton’s has been awarded ISO 14001 certification, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

ISO 14001 is the most widely recognised international standard for environmental management systems (EMS) and is used worldwide across various industries.

The restaurant supplier said it sought the certification to validate its implementation of an effective EMS.

The business added that it is “on a mission to lead by example in the industry, ensuring that its operations not only meet but exceed environmental standards”.

Rushton’s wants to manage both the immediate and long-term environmental impacts of its operations.

In the short term, the greengrocer is working towards becoming ’zero waste to landfill’ and expects to achieve certification for that in the coming months.

Rushton’s director William Thorogood said: “Achieving ISO 14001 certification is a significant milestone for Rushton’s, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible practices.

“This certification not only validates our efforts to minimise our environmental impact, but also sets a benchmark for our future initiatives.”

He added: “I am proud of the team’s dedication and hard work in reaching this goal, and we remain focused on continually improving our environmental performance.”
