South London's New Covent Garden Market has bagged the prestigious2014 Best Wholesale Market of the Year award.
The prize was handed out by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) last night, 30 January, at an awards ceremony in Birmingham.
Other winners included markets in Belfast and Chesterfield, plus London's Borough Market.
Jan Lloyd, chief executive of Covent Garden Market Authority (CGMA), who accepted the award on behalf of the team, said:“I was delighted to receive the 2014 Best Wholesale Market of the Year award.
'At the start of the year in which NCGM will celebrate its 40th anniversary of moving to Nine Elms, and just as we begin the redevelopment in earnest, it is great to see the tenants, customers and suppliers of NCGM recognised and acknowledged by our peers in the Industry.”
She added: 'This is not the first time NCGM has won this prestigious award, and with such a great community all working together, NCGM cannot fail to remain the UK’s Best Wholesale Market.'
