Finn Cottle of The Soil Association launched its annual report at the show

London’s Olympia buzzed with activity over 11-12 April as more than 8,000 people gathered to attend Natural & Organic Products Europe 2010.

Marketed as the ‘must-attend’ business event for the entire natural products, health food and organic sectors, the show’s 500 plus exhibitors were joined by thousands of trade buyers from all around the world.

Event director Simon Barry said: “This was without doubt the most successful Natural & Organic Products Europe to date - an extraordinary achievement considering the current economic climate.”

The two-day show also included the launch of the latest Soil Association’s Organic Market Report, which noted that while sales of organic products in the UK fell by 12.9 per cent in 2009 to £1.84 billion, there were clear signs of increasing confidence among consumers during the early months of this year.

Carsten Holm, managing director of the show’s organiser Diversified Business Communications, said: "Despite the economic difficulties we have experienced over the past year, we have seen more innovation and new product development in the natural and organic products industry than I can remember, which makes the achievements of this year’s winners even more impressive.”
