Tesco’s produce category director Steve Murrells is to become chief executive officer of T&S, the 850-store convenience chain purchased by Tesco 18 months ago.
He told freshinfo he is “delighted” with the move. Murrells has presided over the department in a period that included Tesco being awarded Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year and significantly increasing its market share in the category.
His successor is Peter Durose, who returns from three years in Malaysia, having previously been the chain’s category manager for horticulture and fruit.
