Growers’ leaders in the south-eastern Spanish region of Murcia are calling for a far-reaching promotional campaign for their produce.
Secretary general of the producers’ association Asaja Murcia Alfonso Gálvez Caravaca said: “We need the regional and national administrations to work together to organise a campaign to promote fruit and vegetables from the Murcia region on both the domestic and international marketplaces. The aim is that consumers will recognise the magnificent quality of our products.
“Now more than ever it is important to encourage the promotion of Murcian produce among growers in the region, focusing on creating a brand image that will help to drive sales.”
Caravaca wants any campaign to be long-term and communicate to consumers the quality and food safety of their products.
“It would also be very beneficial to open new channels of distribution that enable growers to bring added value to their operations despite the crisis in our countryside,” he added.
