Morrisons has cut the price on over a thousand of its products.

The move comes as the UK's fourth largest retailer fights to win back shoppers after months of falling sales.

Prices on everyday essentials - including certain fresh fruit and vegetables - will now be 17 per cent cheaper, on average, according to BBC News.

After posting a disappointing set of annual results in March, Morrisons CEO Dalton Philips said the retailer would commit a billion pounds over the next three years to lowering prices.

In this latest move, some 1,200 products are included on the list of items to be discounted, around 35-40 per cent of which are key branded goods, reports BBC News.
