One of Morrisons’ longest-serving directors is to step down next year after 25 years with the company.
Group retail director Mark Gunter is to retire from the Bradford-based retailer in June 2012.
Gunter will remain as group retail director until the AGM in June 2011 when he will step down from the main board, reports the Wall Street Journal.
He is expected to start the handover process of responsibilities to Mark Harrison - who will be group retail director designate in the interim period - with immediate effect.
Gunter oversaw the integration of Safeway after Morrisons acquired the supermarket in 2004,
