Delegates at this year’s Re:fresh conference will have the chance to quiz some of the biggest names in the fresh produce industry in a revamped format for the event.

Morrisons’ category director for fresh produce, Jane Speakman, will discuss the retailer’s view of the world in a session entitled The Changing Face of the Industry - Market Opportunities.

The 2011 conference format has been refreshed and designed to be more interactive, with delegates given the opportunity to put questions to all of the day’s speakers, who will be taking part in two panel debates.

The 19 May event kicks off at the Intercontinental Park Lane at 12pm with lunch and networking at the Re:fresh expo. The first session opens with DEFRA minister Jim Paice, followed by Fresh Direct’s Nigel Harris and Gary Marshall of Bevington Salads and the New Covent Garden Market Tenants’ Association. The speakers will then take part in a panel debate where delegates can put forward questions.

Following a networking break, Peter Durose of Fresh Approach, Jan Matthews of the London 2012 Organising Committee and Speakman will talk about market opportunities and take part in a second interactive session.

FPC CEO Nigel Jenney said: “We are launching a new interactive industry-focused programme, with a great line-up of big characters. A variety of radical views will set the scene for lively panel debates and we want the audience to challenge the speakers. This is the people’s conference - come and have your say.”
