UK food retail giant Morrisons has opened its 50th convenience outlet.
The new Morrisons M Local store in Derby marks the halfway point for the firm in its bid to have 100 such outlets in operation before the end of 2013.
Twenty jobs have been created at each M Local store, the first of which opened in 2011, with 1,000 vacancies to be filled at the 50 outlets set to open over the coming months.
Mandy Flatley, Morrisons’ HR director for new business development, said: “This is a fantastic landmark for everyone at Morrisons. We’re delighted to have welcomed 1,000 new recruits to the team across 50 M Local sites in all corners of the UK.
“But it doesn’t stop here - we have ambitious plans to grow our convenience business, so now is a really exciting time to join us.”
