Morrisons is introducing Solinda watermelons in its UK stores this week.

The small, sweet watermelons have been dubbed “waterbabies” They are seedless and have a thinner skin than large counterparts. They are slightly larger than an average Galia melon.

Morrisons will source product from Spain and Italy during the summer and is promoting the convenience aspect to its customers.

The Solinda will cost £1.89.

Senior buyer Anthony Forbes said: “Watermelons are increasing in popularity, they are a great refreshing fruit, ideal for the summer season.

“We believe our waterbabies are versatile, tasty and healthy, an ideal product to offer to our customers.
