Sustainable supply chain consultancy AB Sustain has appointed fresh produce specialist Mark Moody to head up its new carbon foot-printing scheme.
Moody has previously worked at AG Thames and Utopia as well as other importers and pre-packers. He will take on the role of account manager leading development and implementation of fresh produce carbon foot-printing models for AB Sustain. The models cover 30 different produce categories within the sub-categories: soft fruit, orchards and field crops. Moody will work with AB Sustain’s technical team to develop the models and also engage with growers and producers.
Moody is a graduate of Harper Adams University College and also has wide experience in the chilled food sector and the meat industry. During his 18-year career, he has had dealings with most of the UK’s major retailers and also has a strong interest in sustainability in agriculture and corporate social responsibility.
AB Sustain’s commercial director Simon Phelps said: “Fresh produce foot-printing is a crucial area of development for us and we believe Mark’s experience in this area will prove invaluable in the development and management of our carbon models, which we are looking to roll out to growers across the country.”
Moody said he is looking forward to tackling the role at AB Sustain. “The next 10 years will be crucial to the food industry and I relish the opportunity to be part of structuring and creating sustainable models in fresh produce,” he said.
