A novel pointed cabbage with high resistance to frost won an award for innovation last week.
The Monarchy variety, bred by seed breeder Nickerson-Zwaan, was recognised by its multinational parent company Limagrain.
The product was trialled in the UK last year and will hit the market in 2008-09.
Nick Bolton, sales and development manager at Nickerson-Zwaan, told FPJ: “We have been pushing our cabbage breeder for frost resistance so that we can grow product in Cornwall and frost-free pockets.”
