The government has warned businesses must make more effort to ensure the packaging they use is recycled.
According to Defra, the amount of packaging waste produced by businesses has increased by a million tonnes in the last seven years.
But new rules due to come into force in 2008 will mean more businesses are required to take more responsibility for their waste, and Defra are worried that some producers will be unprepared for the changes.
